June 26 through July 9, 2009
Nazaret, Ethiopia
We spent four days in Nazaret serving a ministry called Women At Risk. Our mornings consisted of devotional time, Bible study, and the opportunity to sit in on their 12-step counseling session. The women shared their testimonies with us. In the afternoons we had several activities for the women including manicures and pedicures, baking, sewing, knitting and more. It was a blessing to serve those beautiful women.
Ambo, Ethiopia
We spent our mornings in Ambo teaching English to children at a Compassion International sponsored school. They were a joy to have in the classroom, though they aren’t very good at not talking! They were excited to learn and eager to answer questions. It was tough to get them to stay in their seats.
In the afternoons we would play games and sing songs and just enjoy the company of the children. We also spent one afternoon with the street boys of Ambo, having a traditional Ethiopian meal with them followed by a massive water balloon fight. Those boys brought us such joy and really opened our eyes.
